Varsity highlights
Weather: 65, sunny, low humidity
Jamboree #3 was much better than Jamboree #2. After getting
annihilated at the previous jamboree, Pioneer made a decent showing.
Once again, Pioneer took 3rd of 4 teams at the meet. However, with
solid running in the 2-3-4 positions, Pioneer was much closer to the
top two teams. There's still hope that Pioneer can beat Bedford at
the regional on October 28.
Once again, Matt Johnson led the way for Pioneer (16:48, 5th).
Eric Ford-Holevinski also broke 17:00, running 16:54 and taking
8th place. Joe Anderson had his best race of the season. Joe
was the hero of the day as he ran 17:10. Great job Joe.
Andy Harvey finished behind Joe in a time of 17:13. Although
Andy had an off day, it's hard to complain after the brilliant
running Andy has done the previous two Saturdays.
This brings to a close the 2000 SEC conference season. 3rd of
four teams doesn't sound impressive. But there is no shame in
finishing behind Saline and Bedford. These are both excellent
teams. And we get another shot at Bedford at the regional.
Junior varsity highlights
The JV team ran well in the final jamboree. The top performer was
Dan Wucherer. Dan continued his late season surge with a PR time
of 18:19. Awesome.
Besides Dan, three other runners made PR's (Nick Wilkenson, Stephen
Sepaniak, Kevin Mulholland). Jon Moler ran his best time of the
season and just missed his all-time PR. Several other runners
came close to PR's. It was a fine overall performance.
The final meet for the JV runners is at Jackson on Friday, October 27.
With a fast course, everyone will have the opportunity to cap off the
season with a smoking PR. Should be great.
