Coach Sleeman's Observations - 2010

What we did well and where we can improve

Notes from Regional Meet, Oct 31, 2009

The team won the Regional meet last Sat with 23 points.  Nathan Karr was first again with Adam Kern right behind him.  Muhammad Sani moved up and was 3rd man with Nick Kern in the 4th slot.  Joe Frakes continues to maintain a stronger perfomance and was 5th man.  Andy Sanz-Guerrero was 6th man and Sebastian Ag was 7th.  Go to annarbor.com cross  country regional october 31, 2009 for the article about the win.  The team is still looking strng with the State Finals on Sat Nov 7.  D1 boys run at 3 p.m. at M.I.S.

Notes from Jamboree #3, Oct 22, 2009

The team ran at Hudson Mills yesterday and won quite easily.  Pioneer was 24, Saline 71, Bedford 76, and Monroe 78.  Complete results are in the attachments.
Nathan, Nick, Adam and the Monroe runner Whitelaw, and the two Bedford runners Vlade & Kaiser really went at it for the first two miles.  The mile split was 4:48.  Vlade and Kaiser (1:50 800 as a sophomore last yr) dropped back leaving the other 4.  Nick was at the front keeping the pace going with the other three sticking to him. Adam was running his best race of the year and right with the group.  When they came out of the weeds with 150 to go Nathan had takent the lead with his excellent kick with Whitelaw right behind him.  Nick was next with Adam next to him.  At the wire Adam nipped NIck for 3rd.  With the first 3 under 15:40 the team is looking good for the  State meet in two weeks.  Joe Frakes ran his best race ever and moved up from 6th man to 4th man for the first time ever and a p.r. of 16:17.  Muhammad Sani moved up a bit and was 5th.  Andy dropped back a bit after running a very good race earlier and ran 16:26 which is about what he has been running all year.  Sebastian was 7th man in 16:44 and was in front of Saline's 5th man and ran a more solid race than earlier in the season.  Kevin Chaperon won the JV race with his best effort of the season and Ethan Warren moved up to 10th in the JV race with his best ever in 17:39.  Too bad Ethan is graduating since he keeps improving all the time.
The Regional is next week at Willow Metro Park off I 275 south of Metro Airport.  Girls at 10:45,  Boys at 12:00 and JV race at 12:40.
State Finals at MIS on Sat Nov 7  D! boys at 3:00 p.m.

Notes from Kensington, Sept 12, 2009

Pioneer boys ran in the West Bloomfield/Brother Rice invitational last Sat
and were 2nd with a very strong team performance in their first meet of the
year.  22 teams competed.  the team needs to have their 4 - 7 runners move
up in their performance as the season progresses.
